Solve your staff shortage issues
09 June 2006
Do you constantly find yourself in the challenging position of trying to complete IT projects on time and within budget with too few staff?
You are not alone. With the sheer number of emerging technologies projects on the go, IT managers need to inject significant resources into their projects to compress time-to-market.
Consequently the Australian technology sector is experiencing a critical skills shortage and the immediate impact is lengthy delays for IT projects.
With the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations reporting that job vacancies in the ICT sector have risen by nearly 25 percent during the past year many companies are looking for ways to increase their IT workforce.
The easy answer is to outsource projects and key infrastructure services to ensure they are managed on time, on budget, and without staffing issues.
CITEC is in a position to help.
Employing about 70 project managers, business analysts, systems analysts, architects, designers, programmers, database administrators and testers, CITEC is well equipped to help with applications development, including software development, integration, application support and database administration.
Software Services Manager Tony Tully says CITEC’s technology competencies cover open standards platforms such as Java/J2EE, HTML/Javascript and C and also proprietary systems such as Oracle, Tuxedo, ASP, Visual Basic, .Net and COBOL.
“The key platforms we support are UNIX, Windows, IBM mainframe, BEA and various Oracle products,” Tony said.
Ambition Technology Recruitment’s Market Trends & Salaries Report Summer 2006 indicates that IT candidates with certifications, indicating a high level of competence, are in demand and hard to find.
“Our people are highly certified. We have people with CISSP, CISCO, Microsoft, Citrix, Unix and ITIL qualifications,” Tony said.
“In fact CITEC has one of the highest concentrations of qualified ITIL Masters in Australasia, with 83 staff members trained to ITIL Foundation Certificate level, seven of whom have achieved the Masters.”
