CITEC powers Queensland state election results
06 February 2004
Queensland communities will be provided with real time election results in the tally room and on the Internet during this Saturday's state election.
CITEC is the organisation behind the new automated election system. CITEC’s brief by the Electoral Commission of Queensland (ECQ) was to develop a solution to improve electronic data feeds to television media and deliver tally board output in the election night tally room.
Using contemporary XML technology, CITEC’s own software developers designed and built the system using a Java J2EE software framework, Oracle database, and Oracle Internet Application Server.
Having met all of ECQ’s strategic and operational requirements, the election system will now be used in the future for by-elections, as well as state referendums.
Visit the ECQ web site to view the virtual tally room.
